Our Mission
Our mission is to grow organically while developing a strong pipeline of research and innovation that delivers positive environmental impact and leads to new patented technologies. We are committed to achieving Net Zero across our UK operations and to managing our business responsibly through our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, ensuring quality, sustainability, and continual improvement in everything we do.
Team
Oliver Browne-Wilkinson founded the business in 1990 specialising in orthopaedics: since then he has pioneered the research and development of new products for different market sectors – all with a common goal of waste reduction.
Carla Smith is a calming influence within our team, ensuring the company stays true to its mission and achieves it milestones.
Savanna Browne-Wilkinson works with Oliver to ensure the development pipeline of the business is reporting in a timely manner for the quarterly management reviews.
Patrick Perring is the Quality Management representative for Staplebarn and ensures the QMS, MRM and BCS is recorded accurately and non-conformances are concluded in a timely manner.
Kate Wainwright has over twelve years’ experience in academic research, with a strong focus on projects that deliver positive social outcomes. Kate enjoys working across a range of disciplines, from design with sustainability in mind to the technical and market feasibility of new ideas.
Net Zero
Net Zero – Our journey to Net Zero underpins how we operate and develop our products in the UK. This commitment is supported by our ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, ensuring robust quality management and effective environmental governance. We are targeting Net Zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions across our UK operations by 2030, with progress measured and reviewed annually. To support this, we have eliminated UK domestic flights, prioritise electric or ultra-low-emission courier services, and continuously reduce operational emissions through improved office efficiency and resource management.

Manuko
Manuko – The EX31 Project was established in 2010 as a rewilding initiative to respond to the rapid loss of biodiversity in the UK, with a particular focus on restoring habitats and strengthening green corridors. Over time, we have trialled a range of crops, from lavender to olives, to identify species capable of supporting wildlife while remaining resilient to changing climate conditions.
In 2011, manuka was propagated from seed in North Devon and field-planted as a living windbreak. Since then, it has survived and thrived through increasingly hot summers, demonstrating its potential as a robust, biodiversity-supporting species. Manuka provides shelter, foraging opportunities, and connectivity for wildlife, making it a strong candidate for set-aside land and integration across diverse farming systems.
The EX31 Project actively seeks collaboration on rewilding initiatives of all sizes across the UK, helping to reconnect fragmented landscapes, enhance ecological resilience, and support long-term biodiversity recovery.

PANOTHERM is a unique, patented, invisible insulation technology designed to enhance the thermal performance of heritage buildings without compromising their character. Suitable for all types of glazing, PANOTHERM minimises heat loss while providing effective UV filtering at the same time. Historic interiors, finishes, and materials are protected from long-term degradation.
By improving insulation at the glazing level, PANOTHERM offers a sensitive, reversible solution for buildings where replacement windows or intrusive upgrades are not appropriate. This approach reduces energy demand, improves comfort, and delivers measurable carbon savings, ensuring that heat retention is prioritised before other energy interventions are introduced.
Developed to support Net Zero targets through the decarbonisation of the UK building stock, PANOTHERM launches in May 2026 as a practical bridge between conservation and sustainability.
Solve customer waiting time
BeerTrim is a fast-flow retrofit nozzle designed to significantly reduce waste at the point of dispense. By doubling pouring speed (subject to beer-line pressure) and cutting fobbing and over-pouring by up to 90%, BeerTrim increases keg yield and dramatically reduces product loss.
Every wasted pint represents unnecessary environmental impact — with each pint carrying an estimated 560g CO₂e footprint and requiring at least 5 litres of water from crop to keg, including distribution. By minimising waste, BeerTrim helps conserve water, energy, and embedded carbon across the supply chain.
Simple to install and immediately effective, BeerTrim provides a practical, low-cost solution to support the hospitality sector’s journey towards Net Zero. Our patented laminar flow technology is available for licensing in the UK and internationally, enabling wider adoption of more sustainable dispensing practices.
MITA Bionics was established in 2001 to advance standards in arthroplasty education and surgical skills training, with sustainability embedded through reduced waste. We design and manufacture hip and knee workstations in the UK, prioritising durability, efficient resource use and responsible supply chains. Through close collaboration with academic institutions and medical device partners, we develop solutions that support improved patient outcomes while reducing environmental impact. Our products are used worldwide, underpinned by robust quality and environmental management systems and a clear commitment to Net Zero.
